So, I am so tired of the left. And the right. And the conservatives and the liberals. Why allow ourselves to be put into these categories like a phylum or genus in the animal kingdom?

There are already obvious differences like race or gender and those things are outward and cause enough disparity. But besides physical differences, we are all people. When did we let politics rule us so much that it started breaking up families?

Well, I can already hear the wheels spinning in your head- Civil War, Vietnam War are easy places to start. Politics being a divide is nothing new. But we are not in a big war, and certainly not on our soil, in terms of combat at least. But we are in a war of words.

Throw social media or a comment section in the mix and forget about kindness towards people! It makes me sad and angry all at the same time. I have even gone on verbal tirades to stand up for whomever the victim of the week is that people are slandering . Some blows are too low and I don’t have to like a person to stand up for them, it’s just doing the right thing.

What Roseanne said this week about Valerie Jarrett was just so odd, inappropriate and random. But Roseanne is all of those things. But the comparison to a primate for many was way too far. I never paid attention to Valerie’s race and I would never say a racial slur like that about anyone. Even though many don’t think she meant it that way, it offended a lot of people. I have always thought of Roseanne as kind of trash. I know, not kind, but when she bashed the national anthem, it was dunzo for me. Also, this sudden switch to conservatism from liberalism feels phony.

And this Samantha whom I have never heard of, what she said about Ivanka Trump is disgusting. I am not pro-Trump, I am an independent. But I am pro-human and pro-women. What female can call herself a feminist or a woman after saying the worst word you can use towards another woman? People didn’t like Bush but I never heard people attack his daughters. Or any children of other president’s kids to this degree. She needs to be fired too.

The me too movement came about due to abuse of women in Hollywood and in the film and tv industry in general. But isn’t this a violation as well? These two women woke up this week as they normally do and were barraged with insults. And this happens all of the time. It has become commonplace. I am going to come up with a movement- #Stopthedivide.

I tweeted this morning and used that hashtag even before thinking about writing this post. But why not start a movement to stop the silly divisions and come together in the name of kindness and decency? Feel free to jump on board and use this hashtag or any that you can come up with that will represent bringing people closer.

We may not ever come close to utopia, but we can work towards treating one another better.
