So, my advice is-please don’t follow the (m)asses, use your God-given brain…

So, I have been going through social media today and blogs, and it is mind-blowing what some people write or share to push their agenda. I notice it a lot in regards to people who  are anti-Christian and who are angered if you are not pro-Populist beliefs. I am not super liberal and I vote for both parties and that I have a mind of my own. I don’t think our former president was a god. I think he made oodles of mistakes, but I am not a racist. I have a mind of my own! And, I go to church and guess what? I don’t bash gay people and have close gay friends. I don’t even pretend to be perfect, I make mistakes, but I don’t condemn other people for their lack of religion. My boyfriend is not the same race as I, and on and on and on and on. Basic point-I can’t be pigeon-holed and you shouldn’t want to be either!

I am a white woman, with an ethnically mixed child. I am what you would call pretty open-minded. But if I do not agree with everything that the extreme liberals or extreme conservatives tout, it doesn’t make me a word that ends with -ist. I a so tired of people who have a huge voice (reporter or celebrity), putting people into boxes who don’t go for their bullshit. I am sorry, but just because I do not wear a vagina hat does not mean that I am against those that do. This Naziesque behavior of forcing someone to agree with what the mainstream feels is right, well never work for me.

I am always going to be the one to do further research. I listen to NPR and Rush. I have friends that are on extremely opposite sides, and I sit unbothered in the middle. Because when you take away all of the smoke and mirrors, people are prejudiced against something. Many folks would not allow a refugee or illegal immigrant in their home. I don’t see Nancy Pelosi running a soup kitchen for inner city kids. Has Bernie Sanders welcomed persecuted people into his huge home as a safe haven? At the end of the day, politicians and talking heads are full of it, and they are dividing our society and so many of us are falling for it hook, line and sinker.

Just because someone does not outwardly protest or march for something, does not mean that they have an opinion that is far different from the person that does. Maybe some people help out mankind in a different way. Like rolling down the window and giving a dollar to the guy standing at the traffic light and begging for money. Or perhaps saying a kind word to a stranger who looks stressed out. Everyone has experiences and opinions and reasons for being who they are. If someone’s philosophy on life is not damaging to others, why harangue and harass the hell out of them about it? Your opinion does not have to be everyone else’s. I have friends that are Hindu, Atheist, Humanist, etc. Their way of life does not affect me one bit, nor does it affect our relationship.

So many people dog Christians and it really pisses me off. Everyone that I am close to belongs to a Christian church, or believes Jesus is their savior. Not one person that I deal with, says racist things or homophobic things or goes out of their way to hurt or belittle any group of people. Maybe that is because I choose to be around good people, or because there are more inherently good people. I have never been to a church that has suggested other than love and peace. Of course there are always examples, but they are the exception and  I have not experienced it and neither have many of the people on social media and blogs. They are anti-Christian because they have no direction or follow blindly, the “cool” people that they idolize who also have no real direction.

So why does society and the media try to tear certain groups down while treating other groups like they are better than or are worth more respect? And this demonizing of religions or beliefs that are not doing any real harm, while propping up ideologies that performs mass killings and brag about it?! I just don’t get it. I am pretty much terrified of the future for my child. The internet has allowed people who are clearly cowards to feel that they can spread this vile garbage and has in a way pumped them up to believe that they are braver than they are. Some people become web trolls while others go on to do violent acts in the name of whatever they are marching for/protesting about/or in the name of God, which is laughable.

My whole point in writing this? Be who you are. Do not adopt a belief system or set of values because your political party or college professor or even spouse tells you to. God made all of us (even the non-believers) to make choices. And of course we should consider others when making certain decisions. But do not let the influence of media and culture mold you into someone you are not ready to be. You need to be sure before you bash or hurt other people in the name of your belief system, no matter how passionate you are about it, that you are able to handle the aftermath when things go awry or people disappoint you. Live for you and make a difference that helps others, not tears them down. Because if you use ugliness and bile and hate to fuel your actions, then you are just as bad or worse than the people whom you claim are divisive and evil…

I have tons of education and don't use it! I am non-traditional and traditional rolled into one person. I am a Christian, but need work! I am conservative fiscally, but I could care less who someone marries. My favorite things to do are: hang out with my kid, watch movies, read, write, sing, dance, love, live life to the fullest! I love: my kid, my cat, my best guy D, God, rain, chocolate, Christmas, friends, cats, animals in general, honesty, avocados, love, Hallmark channel, iced coffee, Harry Potter, NYC, England, Italy, D.C., Paris and autumn.
