So, twisting is not meant for queens…

Twisted Queendom

You twist and turn on a mission to be who they think you should.

Your confidence, gait, that winning smile whirr in a blender of self-doubt and defeat.

All efforts to assuage them go unnoticed, you are not applauded, access is still denied.

Your hair and teeth shiny as you make your approach. But a pall takes over.

You back away. What a smart one, not staying where you are unwanted.

But something within pushes you to try again because next time you will reign.

The currency of your persona alone will be enough. It has to be.

Because if they don’t accept you, then surely you aren’t who you thought you were.

These minor league socialites, clawing to take away your God-given confidence.

What you were created to be, you ignore. Their opinion outweighs the truth.

Where did the fearless person go? The barefoot girl with butterfly dreams?

A net with a hole but defied all odds. That was more than something.

The kind of special does not grow beneath the willows. It is rare.

Don’t let go of who you are. You have weathered too much.

Adjust your chin. Walk with the swagger of a thousand queens.

Your greatness can be denied, but you know who you truly are…
