So, do you sometimes listen to random things to distract you?

So, we had a long but fruitful day selling Ds vintage clothing in Brooklyn yesterday. It was so much fun. So much cash, but we were gone for 10 hours, so we ordered food, and I crashed. I went to sleep early knowing I would have to wake up first thing to go to this bougie boutique to get my baby boy’s cat food. He can’t eat cheap or highly processed stuff.

Since my furboy was on his last can of expensive 98 percent duck, I added water to it so I could sleep longer the next morning. It didn’t work by they way:). I woke up and drove for coffee and then on to get the pate.

Sometimes, I fill silent times like car rides alone with prayer or thinking about the week ahead or things going on with my kid. But other times I listen to reruns of shows, political podcasts, or self-help books.

But on occasion, I listen to less than elevated things like Real Housewives episodes (I loved it back in the day) or, more recently, a podcast about sororities. It is strange being that  my daughter is almost out of college and has no interest in sororities, and I wasn’t even in one. Some of the content is kinda cheesy, but it keeps my mind busy.

At times silence can be scary. Noise can be company. And a relaxed mind makes way for deep thoughts that one is not ready to face. I guess those sentences are profound enough to leave it right there…
