So, I was watching one of my favorite shows, Sopranos, and witnessed Tony’s mom’s behavior. On the show, this woman was an absolute horror. She lied, manipulated, and even was in on the scheme with a non family member to have him killed. Her own son! That led me to think about the question- does everyone have a good side or have good in them?

And I know as a Christian person, or as any decent human, I should say yes. I should speak positively and think about people as souls. And because I am not Jesus, I can’t understand, nor can I judge someone’s life fully. Or can I?

If someone is a molester, trafficker, or serial rapist-is there good in them? My answer is no. How could there be? What redeeming quality can a person (monster) participate in such atrocities have? And by their horrendous actions, they could be creating more monsters.

Were the said monsters good little kids and something terrible happened to them? Or, were they not good from the beginning? Can these people be born that way? I know they can be made based on abuse or a terrible background.

But are some people simply born bad? Is it possible that some people are just unhinged due to genetics or other factors like substance abuse when their mother was pregnant? And those born unhinged, is it possible some to have harmful tendencies but some choose to lean into it and others are able to manage it? Or is it a choice to be “bad”?
