So, I think I found a motivator to acheive/reach for goals and dreams…

So, I said I would come back and post about how I think we could all approach working towards goals, finally, without relenting. I am still figuring things out, but because I am a Gen Xer, one would think I would have all of the answers at this point. Better late than never, I guess.

I have started thinking about things I don’t like or want in my life. It came pretty easy. I am sure we all have a list of things we want to change or get rid of completely. It isn’t negative to approach change in this way. It is taking charge!

Thinking about what one doesn’t want to tolerate or live with any longer is a healthy thought process. Life is way too short to live medicore and to be unfulfilled. So instead of listing what we want, which can be many things, stating what we do not want gives a sense of power like-we are kicking bad habits and old patterns to the curb.

I will start with my list, and maybe you can do one of your own. This is  vulnerability on parade, but here goes:

  1. I do not want friends in my life who are not reciprocal                     (If my communication is the only thing holding  friendship together, I will not continue that cycle. I will seek avenues to change my circle.)
  2. I do not want the excess 45 pounds I have gained over the last 9 yrs               (Health problems and excuses be damned! The weight is holding me back, so I am going to release it for good by working out 5 days a week at home in some form.)
  3. I do not wish to have any debt any longer    ( I am looking for another income stream so that I can save and pay things off. I will also let extraneous costs go, whatever to be fiscally fit.)
  4. I do not want to let fear of failure hold me back any longer, so I am kicking habits that do not support success (I am deleting social media, having less negativity (people) in my life, cutting tv time, etc.)

By typing this out and thinking about things over the last week or so, I have done so much already:

I walked 5 miles today, and I found a local Writer’s Group. I went to visit a Women’s Club that I am going to join. I went to a Book Club on Monday. I took Instagram off of my phone. I took a stab at recording a podcast intro today.

I know this pace of things will not always continue. But by focusing on the few things I wanted to eliminate, it was easier to jump in and attack each goal. And it feels/ felt good.

I am looking forward to your emails and messages about how you are going to start and what methodology you use. Everyone is different. Do what suits you! Happy planning!
